visual history
This photo depicts a heartbreaking group of young children laboring. They are wearing dirty, damaged clothing and carrying objects much too heavy and sharp than they should be. They are probably no older than six years old and their faces clearly reveal the pain and distress they have to endure every day while laboring.
- “Eliminating Child Labor” This photo shows the solemn emotions of children around the time of the Industrial Revolution. Children were not able to continue their daily lives or receive an education because they were sent to work at factories everyday. The kids in this photo are full of despair because of the miserable conditions at the factories, and their faces are literally masked by the materials they work with.
“Altaf Qadri” This photo shows how children in India that are given the chance to have an education are very engaged in what they are learning, although they are provided with minimal materials and resources. First world countries often take for granted all of the education opportunities we are offered, while the children in poverty learn every chance they can get.
